Mena Alexandra Suvari (born February 13 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer and model. When she began her career as a model she soon moved into acting, after starring as a guest on 90's television shows such as Boy Meets World and High Incident. The film debut came in 1997's drama Nowhere. The performances she made were in American Beauty, for which she was awarded a BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie brought her to broader interest. In 2000, she was alongside her American Pie co star Jason Biggs. She then played her role as the main character on the film Sugar & Spice (2002). Spun, a 2002 independent drama, and Trauma (2004) thriller were the two films that part of her professional career. In 2004, she starred in HBO's series Six Feet Under. She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for 2005 in the category of Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008, she was cast in a string of films that included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the adaptation film to The Garden of Eden. Suvari appears in models in Lancome Paris Adaptive and she's been in a variety of blogs and magazines like Vogue. Suvari has been a defender and campaigner on behalf of African Medical and Research Foundation which is a well-known charity that offers relief to Africa. Additionally, she is involved with charities which fight breast cancer as well as End Violence Against Women.
